The Endowment Association

The WUHS Endowment Association is an independent non-profit organization established in 1986 to promote excellence and opportunity for students and teachers in the local public schools. The Association raises private funds to support innovative programs which are beyond the scope of the schools’ budgets. It is governed by a community-based Board of Trustees drawn from the school district’s member towns.

Association goals

  • Encourage and reward imaginative teaching
  • Stimulate innovative programs that benefit the largest number of students and teachers
  • Enrich students’ educational experience
  • Foster cooperation between communities and schools

Who may apply for Association support?

  • Teachers
  • School Administrators
  • Students
  • Community Members
Deadlines and notification

Grant proposals will be considered twice a year. Application deadlines are:
  • October 15
  • March 15

Grant awards are made approximately 45 days after the application deadlines.

Proposal development and writing

The WUHS Endowment Association has found it helpful to consult with the grant applicants prior to submission of a proposal. Applicants are encouraged to contact a trustee or their principal before beginning the application process.

Financial goals of the Association

The long range plan of the Association is to develop an endowment sufficient to fund all approved grants. Should an innovative program be submitted foe which there are insufficient funds, the Trustees are empowered to use a portion of the endowment’s unrestricted principal.
